State should create conditions for couples to have access to the treatments avaidable. Infertility affects about half a million portuguese couples and despite being a public health issue, the treatments avaidable (intrauterine insemination, implantation in vitro and intracitoplasmática microinjecção of spermatozoon) are still for most an impossible solution because of the extreme costs.

Just one question, why not push adoption as an alternative. With so many kids in orphanages who need good homes, why should the state spend billions on these treatments. We should be looking at accelerating the adoption process which is still way too slow.

The state has to spend millions with abortions( if the law gets changed which is likely sooner or later) and then spend millions on infertility treatments. Does anyone else see the lack of logic in this?
